Freaky error…

by tlandmesser . Updated 24 years, 4 months ago

Details:
Windows 2000 Server (mixed-mode)
Windows 2000 Pro (client) loaded with SP2
Dell Dimension Pentium 4 w/ on-board Intel NIC

Here is my issue. I cannot access the domain I am on. I get the following error: “An invalid operation was attempted on an active network
connection”.

I have also received the following ” No service is operating at the destination network endpoint on the remote system.”

There are a few things I have tried to fix this: dis-join and re-join the domain, delete the computer account and re-make it, join the domain with different computer name, re-installed TCP/IP, changed the CAT5 cable, and I finally just installed a new 3COM NIC.

The problem disappeared with the new NIC, but why was there a problem with the old one? I had no issues accessing the network, only when I double-clicked on the domain would it give me errors. I have this issue on a few PC’s that have the same hardware. Is it possibly an issue with the on-board NIC? The problem comes and goes on the rest of the PC’s. Very strange.. I’d appreciate any help you can give.
