from vb to java connection

I have a problem in our project.we have a software which is developed in “Visual Basic” and a chat application which is in “JAVA “.

what my problem is
i have to get all the information from the chat application and store it in
a database through Visual Basic.
is it possible to connect a “VisualBasic” application to “JAVA”?

if it is possible please tell me the way to connect to java.
