I bought a premade Gateway computer with a nice 250g hard drive built in, and I added a 120g for storage. The computer came with an Operation System installation CD with many applications and drivers, none of which can be accessed outside of setting up the OS itself.
I no longer want the 250g to be my boot drive, since it is the largest of the two and I’d like it to be my storage drive as I have much more to store than to boot with.
My problem is, when I try to install the OS package onto the 120g, some specific built-in applications fail to install and when I reboot my computer after it’s all complete, it tells me that setup was not properly completed and to reinstall.
Has anyone had this issue before and have a solution? I would really like to reinstall my OS on a clean system, and I have a copy of Windows XP and would be satisfied with using that, but all the drivers for my motherboard (USB controller, ethernet adapter) are on the Gateway OS package CD and are unaccessible.
