Get around Win XP password??

I recently upgraded my Sony Vaio laptop from Win Me to Win XP Professional. Unfortunately, during setup it asked me for a User Name, but never for a password. At the “welcome” screen I click my user name, but then it asks for a password. There never was one while I was using Me. How can I get around the password to change it or delete it?
