Global Cataloge on Exchange Server?

Hey there. I have a little bit of a problem. We have two DCs in our network. One houses exchange server 2000 as well, and the other is the global cataloge. Well, every time the global cataloge server needs to be restarted, the exchange services bomb. What would be wrong with making the exchange server itself the global cataloge?
