group policy

I have a Windows 2000 server and a Windows Prof client, ADS is set up with Group policies , when a client logs in at the Win 2K Prof machine he always gets his local profile even if I set his profile up to be stored on the server. If I log onto theserver with users name the policies are applied, but they are not applied to the client logging on at the client machine
