Hanging Around

Everytime that I run NT backup it hangs. The script runs fine and it ejects the tape but then it hangs. I have to keep restarting the server to get backup to stop. How can I remedy this situation? I have look on Microsoft.com & Technet & Tech pro guild with no luck.
