Hard disk damage

Dear tech republic: I need to know if its posible that a hard disk drive fail and brokes using internet and what is the explanation of that problem.
My hard disk make a noise like knok and knok and does not respond.
Sorry about my english i glad to contact somebody if its posible who speak spanish.
