Hard Disk Troubles

by apresley . Updated 19 years, 3 months ago

Hello all,
I wondered if anybody could give me some advice-
I recently installed a SATA hard drive (removing the 2 ide drives which were working fine) and installed XP pro. After XP had installed i tried to reconnect the ide drive without an OS as an extra storage drive.
The BIOS would not recognise this previously good drive. I then disconnected the SATA drive and set up the ide drives as they had been configured but again the BIOS would not recognise either drive. Next i tried to connect the ide drives on another computer but again the BIOS would not recognise them.
I have tried- 3 different ide cables, all jumper settings, trying one drive at a time, putting the drives on the secondary ide controller and even reset the cmos. The BIOS would not recognise them.
Anybody got any ideas or have i destroyed the drives with static?

Motherboard- ASUS K8N-E deluxe
Hard Drives- Seagate Barracuda 60Gb and Western Digital Caviar 40Gb

Thanks in advance
