Hard drive is okay

My brother’s hard drive from a Tiger was getting major registry and dll file errors. I brought it to work and reimaged it and booted it up with a Compaq deskpro. No errors. Ran great. Booted back up to the Tiger and errors galore again. This is not a hard drive issue??? What could it be? The drive is the stock for the tiger and ran fine for 3 years.
