hard drive letter allocation?

I recently had to change out a hard drive, during the installation with win xp pro by the way, I suppose I made a partition installation error, my new drive, which was given the drive letter f:, not c:, is not working out to well with some database driven software I use, the drive is formated with the ntfs system, drive letter c: is showing up, but I cant access it, and partition magic will not let me change the drive letter, how can I change the drive letter back to c: without having to fdisk the drive?
