HARD DRIVE SPIINING?

I just installed a DVD Rom and booted the system, now that windows has recognized it, and it is listed in the device mamanger as working properly, the orange “running” light under the green “system on” light is just staying on, and it sounds like the hard drive is still spinning. it has been on now for about 10 minutes. Using XP Home, without SP2.
