Hard Drive Upgrade

I would like to get input on upgrading a P4 system with a bigger hard drive,give me input on what your thoughts are to adding a 250GB,SATA to co-exist with 160GB IDE HD

Current drive is Maxtor,should the new drive be of another brand?

In the setup ,what are the Pro’s and Con’s of the configuration to SATA and IDE
