Hardware Devices

The only thing that baffles me about Windows XP is:
How can you check the boxes to enable DMA specs for your CD-ROM drives in the O/S?
It does not have the area that Windows ME has in it’s hardware devices to choose to be able to enable it! I’m stumped…
