I just built myself a new system. 120gb hd, intel p4 533mhz FSB, 2 x 256DDR memory. I first noticed the problem when i was trying to install xp pro, and it just rebooted mid install. So i ran microscope diag. on it and it rebooted about 15 minutes after that. I
have just been sitting here looking at the hardware monitor on my bios, it shows a steady 35C/95F for case temp, and it shows a 46/48/49C – 116/118/120F as times goes on for the cpu temp. I am sure that an overheat is not the problem. Intel should be able to handle much… much… more heat than that. And true to form after about 15 minutes it shut off again. I just rebooted and it was fine for about 5 minutes. Than it died. Its almost as if it’s afraid of my cpu temp hitting 122F. There is no weird smell. I am close to just turning the hardware monitor off. I am sure theres a way. Anyways. Here are the specs:
Power Supply= 400W
MotherBoard = PC Chips model:m963g::sis 661fx/964L
CMOS = v02.54 American Megatrends
HD = Samsung 120 GB
CPU = Intel Pentium 4 2.80A GHz 1MB L2-Cache, 533MHz FSB, PGA-478Pkg.
Version: C61899-004 1.4V Max
Anyone got any ideas… Lay it on me. I’m about ready to RMA the whole load.
