HDD reboots constantly at start up

Ok so I was trying to get a USB flash drive recognized by my computer. After a few attempts my computer informed me it needed new drivers and I allowed it to load them, the computer suddenly rebooted and its now stuck in this reboot loop. I have tried to boot from the XP cd and use the recovery console but no matter what I try, I cannot get it out of that loop. Here’s where it gets wierd, I took the HDD out of that computer tried it in several other machines I have, all the same thing. Then I remembered I have an old PentIII 1000mhz machine. I stuck the HDD in it and after alittle while the dam thing booted up just fine. After several reboots and updates, the HDD is doing dandy but the second I try to put it in one of my newer computers, it goes into a reboot loop. I appreciate all replies on this, thanks.
