Hello!~ Will Thermal/Silicon paste affects the mboard?

today i just bought a new mother board and cpu, so as i was installing the cpu, and then i applied the thermal/silicon paste, i accidently got a tiny strand onto the motherboard, i was wondering if this will affect my mother board later on? ty very much
