Help and Support Menu Not Working

For some reason, when I click on the “Help and Support” menu option on the Start menu, the Help box starts to paint on the screen, and then it stops responding. This happens consistently.

I am able to end the task via the task manager, and resumeother work, but not access the Help menu. The Windows XP support desk hasn’t been much help, other than suggesting to reinstall XP, which is not a good option right now.

Any suggestions on registry keys or other areas to look for a solution? As you can imagine, this is incredibly frustrating.
