Help with pen drive troubles!

I have an issue with the USB pen drives and a Dell 8100 Inspiron laptop. When the USB drive is attached to the computer and you use Explorer to access the files the floppy drive light comes on and it runs….I have ran this issue past Dell 2 different times with no luck…wondering if anyone else has encountered a similar issue and maybe a possible fix???
