Hiding Folders from Users without access

by bobby gillette . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

I am currently in the process of testing Windows2000 and its use for a fileserver (specifically user and shared drive access). In Netware, its pretty straightforward, users can only see folders they have access rights to. In Win2k (as in NT 4), any folders in the directory (say an S: mapped to \\\shared) are listed, even if the user has no rights on the folder. Is there any way (save creating hidden folders with via the “$” method) to hide folders from users who don’t have any NTFS permissions to allow them access?

Thanks in advance…
