hit by W32/Opaserv.worm.m HDD NOT usable

One of my client machines got hit with W32/Opaserv.worm.m, whenever the machine boots up I get the
NOTICE:
Illegal Microsoft Windows license detected!
You are in violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act!
Screen.
This machine has critical data that I must recuperate, unfortunately the disk is inaccessible, and I tried to copy the data with Norton ghost to try and get creative with different DOS commands, but ghost in unable to read the information. I installed winxp in the machine on a different drive and set the affected drive as slave, xp reported the drive as not being formatted and asked if I wanted to format, so coping the information that way is not an option. Is there a way to make the hard drive accessible again? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
