I read this article with interest, and at the end, followed the hints on speeding up Internet Explorer.
You might be interested to know the results!
I’m running the final version of ME, with IE 5.5.
Following the instructions listed, I discovered that ‘MaxConnectionsPerl_OServer’ and ‘MaxConnectionsPerServer’ did not exist, so I created them and put in the values. No problem there!
I went on to some sites, and noticed how SLOW they seemed (although it IS Christmas vacation with kids on-line all the time, so that’s possibly the reason).
However, my Outlook Express e-mail has since started to ‘hang’, so it was time to check the modifications.
I deleted all of the mods, re-setting to original specification.
Re-start, no improvement re the mail situation.
So, I re-did the suggested mods, did a system re-start, tried the OE mail, still hanging.
Back to the hives!
In the Internet settings, there is ‘Enable Http1_1’ with a value of 1 on hexadecimal.
IF THIS is the string that shows Internet Explorer complies with Hypertext Protocol v1.1
(and the suggested article modifications are to change that compliance), SHOULDN’T this ‘Enable Http 1_1’ string be deleted or modified as well?
I haven’t yet tried to change this item, but isn’t this trying to force the protocol we are trying to change to remain in effect, regardless of the changes made to the other strings?
