How can I introduce a delay in XP’s shutdown process?

Hi. I’m wondering if it is possible, perhaps through some sort of registry edit, to introduce a delay in XP’s shutdown process.

Why would I want to do this? Well, there’s a user where I work that gets an error message every time he shuts down his laptop. Evidently, the error is caused by the CPU shutting down so quickly that a particular program doesn’t have time to close properly. Thus, it gives an error message every time the computer shuts down.

Thanks for any input on this unusual issue.
