How can i make win98 work again

Hi I have a computer running win98 SE my problem is that im not able to work with my win applications i can see the background of the desktop but not the icons or the taskbar when i login. The taskbar appear when its loading windows but it disapper I can only move the mouse and that’s it. I even press the CTRL-ESC to get the taskbar but it just beep. when i press ALT-CTRL-DEL i get the task list only showing this programs running, Vsstat, vshwin32, msgloop, msg32 I will appreciate any help in this matter.
