How can I Upgrade Compaq ME to Win 2000?

Hi. I have both a Compaq Presario 5wv254 and a 1200us presario laptop, both running ME. I would like to use Windows 2000 on at least the desktop, but from what I saw on Compaq’s website, they don’t recommend it…
I don’t like ME, and would much prefer 2000 if will work. So, anything you guys can do to help, I’d appreciate it!
