How do I capture an LPT port in XP Home

by gmiller . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

In Windows XP Home: I need to capture a local LPT port address for a network printer, to enable a DOS app to print to the network printer.
The DOS app can only print to LPT1, LPT2 or LPT3 and the printer is attached to a different PC.
The remote printer has been shared as \\Reception\FX100.
When XP connects to the remote printer it refers to it as “FX100 on Reception” but in XP there doesn’t appear to be any way to redirect an LPT port to the network printer
