How do I document permissions?

I have a seemingly simple question yet I searching for the most efficient answer.

I have an NT 4.0 network, we have implemented several kinds of folders (shares) for various reasons and positions within the company. These shares have NT permissions assigned to them.

How should I go about documenting the permissions, since their are quite a lot. Is there a feature that will print them out for me? Up to know I’ve just wrote them out freehand, but I think that is ridiculous at this point.
