How do I repair my internet connectiont?

I used a system file cleaner to Repair Shortcut Icons and I think it reverted me to a previous Internet Set-Up. The configuration shows @home as the server and I believe it should be @shaw (my cable provider). I called the tech help desk at shaw and was blown off saying it was a PC problem and not their area. I thought I just needed to reinput their server address. Should I call back and ask for a Supervisor? Do I need new software? I am using Windows 98 SE and have Internet Explorer and Netscape as browsers.
