How to access files on password-protected flash drive

I forgot my password for my 2Gb PNY flash drive. I emailed PNY but they don’t have a utility that will search the drive for my password. After 10 login attempts, I will be able to set up a new password but all my files will be erased. Should I do this? Is there any way to access these files after they have been erased?
