How to disable APIPA on OS 9.1?

by micky martins . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

I would like to use Windows 2000 Internet Sharing Connection and apparently when you enable ISC on Windows 2000 Server first you have to assign a private IP Address with this network id 192.168.0.0 and all other machines should be configured as DHCPclient.

The problem I have with my imac laptop is that although it’s configured to obtain an ip address from a DHCP server it never obtain one from my windows 2000 when connected to the internet instead it assign itself with an APIPA IP Address (self configure IP Address) with network id 169.254.0)

What I would like to do now is to disable APIPA on my apple machine.

First of all, is it possible? Secondly, is there a better solution?

Environment:
One Windows 2000 ADV Server
One imac laptop OS 9.1
Network UTP Crossover cable.
