I built my box in August of 2004 when PCI-E had just appeared in MOBO’s but no cards were available then. Now I want to take my old box to the max to last another 6 months or so. Problem? My original memory was very high end for the time. I can’t find more to increase my ram to 2 Gig from 1 and I want to. I just dropped my ($550!) X800XT Platinum ATI card and ordered the AGP/Nvidea core XFX 7950GT 512MB which will probably end up as the last and fastest AGP card. I have an Intel 3.2 Extreme Edition P4, so I’m hoping the Video won’t bottleneck at the processor.
But I do want two more 512MB Ram modules to by synchronous with my OCZ sticks which are: “OCZ Performance 1GB (2x512MB) 184 Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 533 (PC4200) Dual Channel Kit. CAS timings 3-4-4-8 stock.
I’ve tried for a week and can’t find an equivalent. Almost everything is DDR2 and the DDR 1 modules usually stop at PC 3200 speed.
What is my best solution? Add 1 gig of slower DDR memory which will slow down my faster “super” memory or just stick with what I have now if there is no real performance gain since I’m using the “extreme edition P4. I need extra time before I can build a new system and scrap my socket 478 Intel 875P ATX MOBO from Chaintech (Zenith CT-9CJS).
Are there places that sell used DDR1 memory (PC4200)?
Thanks for any help you builders/maintainers can provide. You’re the greatest!
