how to format a hard dirve?.

by ahmedsqt . Updated 20 years, 10 months ago

Hi there:
I have originally a pata drive as C: dirve and now I added a new drive as a sata drive. When I connected them to my motherbord that’s Intle D865GPF, I insured that the settings were sat at auto or enable and it indded it detected my both drives C: as sat dirve and pata drive as pata drive. My scrwed up started when I wanted ot install Windows Xp. I commanded to format D: dirve and it did and as you know it has to copeis some windows files for installation prepatration. I deleted D: partition to go ahead to install Window Xp in sata dirve. When I booted my computer to have fresh start the lay out of my dirves as D: pata at the top and sata at the bottom. I went ahead and installed Windows Xp in my sata drive and guess what, my computer became very slow during the boot process. I try to figure out what the cause was by accessing windows setup a gain and this what i saw D: pata dive at the top and my sata drive at the bottom. It seemed to me eventhough I deleted D: partition but it was still keep of the Windows Xp files. I now disconnected my pata drive and left with sata drive and my computer up to it’s speed again. What I would like now is to have an idea of “How to format my pata drive and connect it with sata drive?.

Thanks.
