How to get my external hard drive to drive F

i have been using a external hard drive(160) it has always been connected,and always came on as drive F,,now nomatter what i do it wont start as F,,Just G,,i tried connecting other devices,but for some reason all my devices are being started as set drives,,this has never happened,have i changed a setting that i dont remember
