how to install new fonts via batch file

here is my question:
I need to know how to install new fonts via a batch file; my extra fonts are stored on a shared directory on the file server at U:\fonts

1) I’ve written a batch file with the following commands:
@echo off
xcopy “u:\fonts\*.*” “C:\windows\fonts\*.*” /e /r /y

2) the font files are copied successfully to the windows\fonts folder but Word and Wordperfect do not recognize them, even after a reboot

3) I have to install these fonts the traditional way (via control panel, fonts, install new fonts) in order for my wordprocessors to recognize them.

Is there a way to write an ordinary batch file via notepad that will install my fonts efficiently?
