Here’s a simple example of my layout:
1-NT4 BDC
1-W2K server with AD installed
Obviously I’m in peril and had planned on adding a second W2K DC, but there’s a problem. Apparently accoring to Q260371 I have a disjointed namespace (if it sounds about as pleasant as a dislocated shoulder it is). Basically DNS is not going to work with the server in it’s current config, no DNS no AD. The only known fix for the problem is the run DCPROMO and remove the DC making it a member server. In my casethat means domain is gonzo. I do have the nt4 BDC but I can’t seem to promote it to a PDC using server manager, even with the W2K DC disconnected from the network.
Is there any hope for my Domain?
How can I revert to the NT4 as my PDC while I rebuild another W2K DC.
