How to send to com2 in Access 2000

I have an Access 2000 database that is doing some billing functions. We want to add a cash drawer to the PC via a serial port and have a button that opens the cash drawer on a form in Access.
How do I configure Access 2000 to send a specific stringcommand to com2?
