We have a CD Writer Plus that will only show
in Device Manager as a CD Rom. It originally
came with the PC(HP Vectra VL600)and it
worked fine in the beginning. In the midst
of copying files from the hard drive to the
CD it locked up and when the PC was rebooted
we noticed the device manager showed it only
as a CD Rom and we haven’t been able to use
it as a burner since. We can read from it
but when attempting to use any type of writer
software we receive the message that a writer
could not be found. We have physically
unplugged the hardware and attempted
reinstalling it and also used scanreg to
reset the registry to a date before we were
having difficulty. No success. I’ve even
worked with HP to try and resolve this issue
and they are unable to help also. This
burner has been replaced in the past but it
seems rather than constantly replacing it
there may be another issue causing this to
happen. Any suggetions?
