I owe this one to the community.
A few weeks ago, I desperately cried on the Net (including here) in order to get a solution to my problem: HP 6270 A scanner with ADF support connected to NT 4 workstation SCSI interface. Scanner was scanning governed by misterious laws, sometimes YES and most of the times, NO. I’ve tried everything (from reinstalling a few times the NT WRKstation, to contacting HP hotlines or using the scanner on WIN98 systems on SCSI or USB interfaces). Nothing worked.
I’ve contacted a few HP authorised services, and they have told me the internal SCSI interface is working randomly after a few scans, so needs to be replaced together with the lamp. IS IT POSSIBLE?
They prepared to charge me for replacing the interfaceand the lamp for a price 40% higher than a new 5370 HP scanner model.
As I’ve experienced problems with other HP machines too (eg. HP external CD writer 7200e), I don’t know what to do – replace interface and lamp, buy a new HP scanner or f**k’emand switch definitely to other PC industry big name? This is a tough decision as we, as a company, based our network on working COMPAQ workstations and these pain-in-the-bu*t HP peripherals.
