HP STATUSCLIENT – invalid page fault

After installing an HP 1012 LaseJet printer locally via USB to a Windows XP machine and sharing it on our P2P LAN, the clients frequently get the error message “STATUSCLIENT caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL” Usually, if not always, it occurs at bootup. It does not always occur, which makes troubleshooting that much more difficult, but happens on various PC’s running Windows 98 and 98SE. The message will not close down–I have to reboot the PC to get rid of it.

Any ideas as to how to solve this annoying problem? Thanks!
