HSP56 MR modem

Can anyone help with a modem problem that I have? I have a pc-tel hsp56 mr modem which is working fine as long as I don’t loose my connection or hang up, if I do the dial-up connection dialog box appears stateing that windows could not detect the modem, yet it appears to be working fine in device manager. The only way I can get the modem to function properly is to either uninstall/reinstall the modem or reboot the machine.

I have also noticed that some of the resources on my pc are using IRQ’s up to 22,(modem), which is rather strange as I was lead to beleive that they numbered 1-15.

I am running WinXP.
