Hybernation in XP

How do you turn off hybernation in XP. Have a user who inadvertantly turned it on and now gets a blue screen with no icons. Screen saver works though. I am confused as to what is causing this. He gets prompted for several options when he hits the power button including “remove restore files” and “continue with start” etc.
