Hyperlinks for network files

I had seen a way to send an email that contains a Hyperlink to a file on our office network. This way, the receiver of the email will NOT have a file attached, but instead, have a hyperlink to the actual file on our network server. I forget what this hyperlink’s path is. Can you help?
I think it is something like File://M:\folder\file??
