IBM X60 “blackScreen” shutdown

I am having problems with a number of IBM X60’s which just shutdown without any logical reason. IBM are not interested in helping out with this problem. My users are using both 4 and 8 cell batteries, the only way they are able to restart the laptops is to remove the battery and wait sometimes for up to 30mins before the laptop will start. Has anyone had the same problem.?
