Icons display 256 color in 32 bit mode

I had installed a W2K SP2 on my DELL Latitude 600 w/ ATI Mobility M3 8MB.

Shortly after installation, I noticed that the color depth of the icons are decreased to 256 colors. (The IE Icon was not vibrant anymore and all their colors are dull.)Anyone has a solution to this problem>
