icons that change colors

i’m running windows 2000 pro right now and i have a nvidia geforce mx2 graphics card.

i’m running at 32-bit graphics but one day when i turned on the machine, my icons show up as 16 colors. This includes icons everywhere (start menu, explorer,desktop). however, everything else, like wallpaper, internet, games, all runs at 32-bit color. I tried the last known good config but that didn’t help. This also happened to me before and i have no idea why or how to fix it. I scanned my pc forviruses, it’s clean.

any suggestions?????
