IDE and SATA

I am running Win XP. I have a 160 gig C drive. I have this drive partitioned once and I have it as IDE master. I have a 320 gig drive attached to SATA 1. This drive is not eing recognized by the computer. How can I get the comp to allpw both types of drives at the same time.
