IDE and SATA Problems

I have a Asus A7N8-X Deluxe mobo, and I can’t get my computer to boot with both IDE and SATA hard drives connected. It boots fine with just SATA plugged in, but when I plug in the IDE drive and the SATA drive, or just the IDE drive, it hangs at ‘Verifying DMI Pool Data’. Both of the hard drives work.
