I have a problem burning CD’s with my Win2K system. I have an I/O Magic burner running Adaptec CD Creator software. The burn goes about 10% and hangs up. I have to exit out of the program to retore. Looking at the System Event Viewer there is an error of:
Event ID: 9
Source: atapi
Description: The device, \device\ide\ideport1, did not respond within the time out period.
I’ve looked in the registry and found that ideport1 refers to the CD burner. What could cause this? A bad burner, bad driver, etc?
The MSKB refers to this problem but only as to an SCSI device. Does that apply to IDE devices as well?
I’m running a dual boot system with Win98SE and Win2k(SP3). This problem only happens on Win2k. Also, periodically the keyboard and mouse freeze up which I thinh is related to this problem.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
