I installed a trial version of Norton Antivirus 2004 and after getting it updated I performed a full system scan. Suprisingly this lasted well over 5 hours for a single PC… While at it I performed a check for mistakes with Spybot Search and Destroy and cleared the mistakes found on previous occasions. When I finished I tried to connect to the internet but when the Internet Explorer loaded the home page it closed. The same happened with other pages as well. I loaded Netscape 7,1 and Opera and everything works fine, hence connection is ok. I tried system restore but my last saved point was quite long ago and would not uploaded it. The same with other restore points made by the regular windows update. It only uploaded the last one which was the same day and the problem with IE still there. I managed to unistall and reinstall IE 6 and its updates but still nothing. I would not mind so much if it was not for the windows update feature needing IE to operate… thanks for the help…
