IE DNS Errors

I have a Windows ME computer that has a modem AND a USB network adapter. The modem was used for Prodigy and the network card was just added to get on the cable internet service. Also have AOL over tcp/ip that WAS working. Ever since the network adapter was added, Internet Explorer will not resolve any names when dialed up or through the network card. I can ping anything by IP but not by name. My thoughts are that DNS is screwed in some sort or another. Is there a registry entry that can be changed or deleted so that this can be fixed ??? It is IE6 on WinME and he tried the go back “feature” of windows.
